Student population

The Faculty of Law has grown substantially in the past decade. The total number of students grew, from 2,700 in 1995-96, to more than 4,000 in 2007-08.

The basic study programme in law accounts for about 60% of the student population, with the basic study programme in criminology accounting for a further 30%. The remainder of th student population are enrolled in the various postgraduate programmes, some of which are taught in English.

In 1997-98 female students achieved parity, in overall student numbers, with the male students. This was already the case for the basic study programme in criminology, and in 2000-01 the basic study programme in law also became "female".

The Faculty of Law is also an attractive place of study for foreign students, both postgraduate and Erasmus students.

The number of staff working at the Faculty of Law has grown dramatically since 1996-97 in order to keep pace with the growth in student numbers.
