Organisation

The Faculty of Law is governed by the Faculty Council, led by the Dean. The Faculty Council is composed of representatives of all members of the Faculty: professors, assistant academic staff, administrative and technical staff and students. The Faculty Council is in its deliberations advised by various other Faculty committees, a.o. the Education Committees (one per education programme, such as Law or Criminology, charged with all preparatory work regarding educational matters) and the Admission Boards (charged with the admission of foreign and domestic students).

The Office of the Dean is charged with executing the policy decision made by the Faculty Council. The other Faculty Logistical Services support the education and service provided within the Faculty.

Education and research within the Faculty are grouped in departments, which in turn can be divided into research areas. The research within these research areas can be formalised into research institutes (i.e. official entities recognised as such by the University Board) and research groups (ad hoc entities assembled by one or more professors).
