If you have any questions at any point during the application process, please contact the LLM Office at LLM@UGent.be. We welcome your applications for the upcoming academic year from 01 October (of any given year preceeding the academic year you intend to start your LLM studies) and until early July. Please refer to different application deadlines mentioned below for EU/EEA citizen students, non EU/EEA citizen students and students holding a Belgian diploma. Please note that you are encouraged to start the application procedure as early as possible - even if you do not possess your diploma (if you are a student with expected graduation date before the beginning of next academic year) or English Proficiency certificate yet! Students who need a visa are especially encouraged to apply as early as possible as their possibility of admission and arrival in Gent in time for the academic year is limited otherwise.
Application Deadlines:
1st of April for non EU/EEA citizen students,
1st of July for non EU/EEA citizen students living in Belgium with a valid residence permit,
1st of July for EU/EEA citizen students.
Please note that applications should be submitted before these dates!
Important Information for students who hold a Belgian Diploma:
The application procedure is the same for International and Belgian students. Exceptionally students who hold a Belgian diploma could submit their applications until the beginning of the academic year. However, you are encouraged to submit your applications as early as possible and before 1st of July ideally as later applications will only be taken into consideration depending on the available spots left in the respective LLM Programme with limited quota.
Important information for Chinese students: Modified visa procedure
All students from the P.R. China have to obtain a certificate of academic screening issued by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) of the German Embassy in Beijing as a requirement for admission to a Flemish institution of higher education and in order to obtain a Belgian student visa. The screening should involve a review of documents and an interview. For further information, see the website of APS (www.aps.org.cn/) or of the Belgian embassy in Beijing (http://www.diplomatie.be/beijing/) or of the Belgian Consulate-General (Shanghai) (http://www.diplomatie.be/shanghai/).
We advise students who wish to be admitted to the LLM programme to contact APS as soon as possible at info@aps.org.cn in order to make the necessary appointments. Please enquire about the cities where interviews are held.
The APS certificate is one of the requirements for applying for a visa. You should therefore contact APS prior to applying for a visa.
The APS application form and further practical information can be found at the APS website (www.aps.org.cn).
All new incoming application packages must include the APS certificate. Any decision relating to your admission to the programme is of course subject to your obtaining a Belgian student visa in due course.
