Maud Piers

Maud Piers was awarded a Licentiate (J.D. equivalent) and Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Ghent.

She was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Miami from which she obtained a Master of Laws degree in international and comparative law. She is currently working as a professor of law at the University of Ghent in the Department of Civil Law, where she focuses her research on European Private Law, ADR and arbitration law.

She is a member of the Ius Commune Research School and is the editor-in-chief of b-Arbitra, the Belgian Arbitration Review. Maud Piers is an administrator of the Belgian Center of Arbitration and Mediation (Cepani) where she is also a member of the "Bureau". Maud Piers regularly acts as an arbitrator in ad hoc and Cepani arbitrations.
