Guest Lecture "Brexit and Trade" by Prof. Piet Eeckhout on 29 March 2018

News and Events

On Thursday 29 March 2018, the LLM-programmes will be pleased to welcome Prof. Piet Eeckhout, Professor of EU Law and Dean at the Faculty of Laws, University College London, to discuss the impact of Brexit on trade between the EU and the UK.

Title of the lecture: "Brexit and Trade"

The future trade relations between the EU and the UK are now at the centre of the ongoing Brexit negotiations. This lecture aims to unpack some of the key concepts and to analyse the main challenges. It will focus on the contrast between what can be called, on the one hand, the integrated market paradigm, and on the other the trade liberalization paradigm. It will put the Brexit negotiations in the context of how those paradigms have evolved - and indeed how they have grown further apart.
