Prof. dr. Miao He

Miao He received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and a bachelor’s degree(minor) in Law from Wuhan University in 2007. Miao obtained the Master’s Degree of law in Wuhan University in 2009 as an outstanding graduate.

Since October 2010, Miao He started her PhD research at the Department of Public International Law, Ghent University, Belgium. She received a four years’ doctoral scholarship from the China Scholarship Council and a co-funding from Ghent University, working on “A Human Rights-based Approach to Conserving Protected Areas in China: Lessons from Europe”.

After Miao obtained her Ph.D. in law in November 2014, she was employed as a lecturer and post-doctor researcher at law school, Wuhan University, China. She is also working as a researcher at Institute of Human Rights (National Human Rights Education and Training Base), Wuhan University, China. Since June 2018, she has been employed as an associate research fellow at law school, Wuhan University. She is teaching several courses on human rights law. Her main research field is human rights law, the relationship between the environment protection and human rights. She is in charge of three national research projects from National Social Science Fund (2018-2020), Youth Research Fund in the Ministry of Education (2018-2021) and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (2016-2019).

Since September 2021, she has been employed as an associate professor at law school and a research fellow at Institute of Human Rights Law (National Human Rights Education and Training Base), Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST). She was appointed as the assistant to the dean of the Institute of Human Rights Law at HUST. She is also the supervisor of master degree candidate and doctor candidate at HUST.
