This year Ghent University - and the Faculty of Law - celebrate their bicentenary. To mark this occasion
a Faculty Party will take place on Saturday 13 May 2017, for our staff, students and former students alike.
For this Party (dubbed "Tijgerfeest", as an acronym for (in Dutch) 'Two Hundred Years of an Intriguing Law Faculty')
we will open the doors of our prestigious buildings. From 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. there will be a varied
programme, with guided tours, children's entertainment, an exhibition and witty speeches by faculty alumni.
Geert Bourgeois, one of our alumni and prime minister of the Flemish government, will deliver the
official bicentenary speech.

On Wednesday 19 April the Faculty party was unveiled at a press conference for the general public's
information. Later that day the exhibition 'The many faces of the Ghent University Law Faculty' was
formally opened.
This exhibition, compiled by dr. Bruno Debaenst and a host of contributors, is on display in the
Braunzaal of the Faculty Library.
Opening hours of the exhibition? See our
website.
For a photoreport of the formal opening, see the
Ghent University Beeldbank ('Image Library').
