Expertise: Public International law and peaceful settement of disputes
Prof. Dr. Nicolas Angelet joined the Ghent University Law Faculty in September 2023. Alongside research activities at GRILI, he lectures on public international law and peaceful settlement of disputes.
Nicolas studied at Ghent University and the Université libre de Bruxelles and holds a PhD from the University of Leuven. He is also a part-time professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where his past and present courses include diplomatic law, international economic law, international investment law and dispute settlement, and international law in relation to the climate crisis.
Nicolas practices public international law as a member of the Brussels Bar and associate tenant of Doughty Street Chambers, London. He sits as an arbitrator in investor-State disputes and acts as counsel in a wide range of public international law matters before domestic courts, international arbitral tribunals, the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the European Court of Justice, and others.
