Diederik Bruloot is a professor of business law and international economic law at Ghent University (since 2014). He obtained his law degree at Ghent University in July 2005 (summa cum laude) and became a research assistant at the Ghent Financial Law Institute immediately afterwards. In June 2012 he successfully defended his PhD thesis regarding creditor protection in European company law. In 2013 he was a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford.

Diederik teaches a course on international economic law as well as several courses on business law. During the last years he published on a broad range of topics within the field of (international) business law. His current research focusses on the legal aspects of corporate finance and the interplay between international economic law and domestic company and financial law.

Diederik is a member of the Financial Law Institute (2005), of the Belgian National Centre for Company Law (2014) and takes part in the editorial boards of multiple Belgian law journals (NjW, TRV-RPS, TIBR). He is director of Gandaius Academy, the Centre for Lifelong Learning of the Law Faculty, and works as a practicing lawyer for the financial services practice of an international law firm.
