Felipe Rodríguez Silvestre is a doctoral researcher at the Ghent Rolin-Jaequemyns International Law Institute since September 2020. He studied law at Universidad de Chile (2016, cum laude) and holds a Master of Laws degree in Advanced Studies in Public International Law from Leiden University (2018, cum laude).

Before joining Ghent University, Felipe worked as a legal officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile in the dispute between Chile and Bolivia before the International Court of Justice, "Obligation to negotiate access to the Pacific Ocean" (2014-2018). Additionally, in the last couple of years he served as a legal advisor of the Office of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile and as an academic of the Public International Law Department of Universidad de Chile.

Felipe is currently working on a project funded by the FWO (Research Foundation – Flanders) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tom Ruys. His doctoral research focuses on the legality of secondary sanctions under international law and the remedies available for third states recipients of such sanctions.
