Dr. Thary Derudder

Thary Derudder obtained the Master degree in Law at the University of Ghent in 2012. During her education she did an internship of one month at the Flemish-European Liaison Agency in Brussels. In 2013 she obtained the  diploma ‘Advanced Master of Laws in International and European Law’ at the Free University of Brussels.

Since July 2013 worked on her PhD at the department of International Public Law under the guidance of her promoter Prof. Dr. Frank Maes. Her research dealt with the judicial statute for the protection of underwater cultural heritage in the North sea.

Besides this, she was also working on an IWT- research project  concerning “Archaeological heritage in the North Sea- Development of an efficient assessment methodology and approach towards a sustainable management policy and legal framework in Belgium”. This was in cooperation with, amongst others, the Renard Centre for Marine Geology, The Flemish Heritage Agency, Deltares and the Flemish Marine Institute. 

Thary Derudder succesfully defended her PhD in 2019. She is now working as a legal advisor at the Flemish government, specifically in the domain of tax.
