Cedric Pfeiler

Cedric Pfeiler first earned an Bachelors in Law (LL.B.) in International and European Law from the University of Groningen, writing a thesis on the legal status of islands. Upon completion, Cedric then completed a Master in Law (LL.M.) in International Law at Utrecht University. There, he specialized further in the Law of the Sea with a thesis on legality of Deep Sea Mining in the Area.

While attending to his studies, Cedric was a Research Intern at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, assisting with the research of the Northern Institute of Environmental and Minority Law. Additionally, he is an Executive Editor for the Utrecht Journal of International and European Law (UJIEL).

Since September 2024, Cedric has worked at the Maritime Institute at Gent University as a PhD researcher, investigating the compatibility of autonomous shipping with UNCLOS.
