Prof. Cas König

Cas König is the new CEO of North Sea Port since June 2025, succeeding Daan Schalck. He is very familiar with the international business world and has a particular affinity for environmental issues, health and safety in relation to economic activities. In 2013, he was voted Plant Manager of the Year in the Dutch and Flemish process industry. In recent years, Cas has gained extensive experience as CEO of Groningen Seaports, the port authority for the ports of Delfzijl and Eemshaven.

Prior to that, he was responsible for the Aldel aluminium factory and ESD-SIC, among other things. Cas König holds various board positions and has been Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark since 1 October 2024.

At the beginning of academic year 2025-2026, Cas König joined the teaching staff of the MSc in Maritime Science programme to share his experience with students through the Contemporary Port Problems course.
